Jungle Buzz
music & lyrics JRRothrock
The Victorian era is known for the expansion of the British Empire, industrialization, and rapid technological advancement. With these great advancements, social values also evolved. There were heroic men and women (for example, David Livingstone, a Scottish doctor and Christian missionary) who traveled into the darkest jungles in Africa to bring food and medicine to a part of the world that had been left behind.
I wanted to create a musical soundscape that could transport a listener into this environment. In my imagination, there was a man who, during a global epidemic, sacrificed everything to travel to a remote region of Africa, bringing critical services and supplies to a people who would otherwise perish. Entire populations were being wiped out by sickness and diseases that the civilized world had already tamed. He and his team disappeared into the darkness of the jungle on this heroic quest. They would never be seen again, but years later, the laughter of children could be heard throughout the region.
No lyrics. Just atmosphere. Lyrics would only interfere with the "buzz".
