Sunday Morning
Art & Lyrics
Like most people, any “sleeping in” that I do, I do on Saturday morning when the family might occasionally hibernate until 7:00 or even 7:30 a.m., and it feels wonderful. We are up every weekday before dawn, so it feels extra good to roll over and cruise through another dream or two. I am always waiting in line for the bathroom on weekdays because my wife and daughter leave the house before I do, so I make the coffee and water jugs and try to stay out of traffic. Sunday morning, I still drift until about 7 a.m., but then roll out of bed to get ready for church. I enjoy church. We have an amazing pastor who speaks directly to me. I am generally the first one up on Sundays. My wife deserves a few extra winks, so I get the shower warmed up. I look forward to Sundays for many reasons, but my Sundays have not always been like they are now. That said, there is something about a warm bed on Sunday morning that feels so good and cozy that it is hard to climb out, especially with a beautiful wife still snuggled in. (BIG smile.) Enjoy.

Sunday Morning words & music c 1999 by Jeffry R. Rothrock
Sunday morning, Baby… the sunlight’s drizzling in…
Why don’t we make like lovers… and pull up the covers?…
…oh…I don’t know where to begin! (yeoww!)
(b r e a k)
You know, it’s beautiful outside, Baby…
But I believe it’s more beautiful …in!
…You think my grin can get no wider…
Well, then…let’s start it all over again ?!
Sunday noon now, Lady! I’ll bet the bees have been buzzin’ around…
…and the birds are singin’… The church bells, ringin’…
…woah! I can’t believe what I’ve found!!!
Well, you know, most o’ my days are sunny!
…and I’ve made it my business to win…
And, yet, I know what luck is, Honey!
…that you are sharing this life that I’m in!
Sunday evening, Baby!… as the moon sails by overhead…
Well, there’s no denying …this day went flyin’ by!…
(yawn…) I guess I’m ready for bed! (oh yeah!)
…all day,…and all the night…
…can Heaven feel so right?
(b r e a k)
…I pray, t’ the Lord, my soul, to keep…
…if this is dreamin’, then let me sleep!…
