If there is one thing that is constant in this life, it is the fact that nothing stays the same. Time has a profound effect on everything. I believe that God built constant motion and change into His design to enable us to perceive time and create an urgency so that we may experience His gift of life to the fullest. Life, as we know it, would not exist without the passage of time that allows for change and the cycles of life. Growing up in the Northeast, I have always loved and looked forward to the change of seasons, the varied colors, and the cyclical changing processes of life that take place. To observe the world around me transitioning from birth, through growth, maturity, and then fading into dormancy, only to see the process begin anew, is amazing. Relationships can also go through changes or “seasons”, if you will. A new relationship is like springtime when everything is new and begins to blossom. In summertime, the relationship thrives as everything is in full bloom. Autumn can be a beautiful time to be in a relationship, but many summer romances have never made it to witness the cooling temperatures and vibrant colors of Autumn. The cold winter months to follow can be a cold, gray, and lonely time to contemplate a love lost. I have witnessed the fading colors as Autumn leaves and endured the gray silence that follows.
