"Normal" changes quickly in this "life". Some of our grandparents didn't even have electricity or indoor plumbing when they were children. Kids now carry cell phones that have more computing power than computers that enabled mankind to walk on the moon, but that was 56 years ago! Could it be that technology and human decency are correlated and have an inverse relationship? It seems to me that technological advances have crippled social skills, and we have become less able to coexist with each other. Basic human values and qualities are no longer taught and reinforced in school, as they were in the past. Qualities like compassion, integrity, bravery, honesty, reliability, humility, generosity, empathy, resilience, confidence, kindness, authenticity, responsibility, leadership, and gratitude are becoming extinct. Those qualities have always been an integral part of society and imperative to the quality of our existence. This is me hoping that there is a thunderous revival and that once again, right beats wrong, and "good" kicks "bad's" @$$.

Coops Loops JRRothrock 5/5/2025
(...daydreaming in class...)
Swinging in a hammock, archipelago…
Snooze under blue skies where the trade winds blow
“Young man… will you be taking tea today?
One lump or two… now watch me fade away…’
Woke from a daydream… heard the teacher say…
“Class… it’s time to put your books away.
Clear off your desks. Put your pencils down.
The lesson’s lost and can’t be found!
(Teacher) Pulled out a briefcase… shiny black and grey.
Red label warning… better “keep away”!
She popped the locks while staring straight at me
…then jumped right in!!! Is this history???

Now here’s the kicker, how the "weird" begot…
The whole class followed her without a second thought!
Led to a place where we had never been.
Some heard about… but had never seen.
*****************************************************
“Words of wisdom" floated everywhere…
When tried to grasp, they were no longer there.
You could get close, but they would slip away.
“You can’t catch me,” it was as if to say!
The rules of life, schools no longer teach.
We could see them, but just out of reach.
Elusive concepts right before our eyes
…just out of touch. They’d quickly vaporize!
Neon clock hanging on the wall…
Hands spinning backwards... like no "time" at all.
Back in the classroom… firmly in our seats...
"Conscious" suspended… Yesterday repeats!

Stuck in a card game where no cards are dealt
... and moved along on life’s conveyor belt.
With nothing new, we’re pushed out the door
... into the world, just like the ones before!
