Is there a greater unconditional love than that of a grandparent for their grandchild? All the pressure is off. A grandparent is pure love wrapped in a wrinkly smile. How could it be any other way? When a grandparent looks down into those innocent little non-judgmental eyes and sees a reborn piece of themselves looking back at them, yet untarnished by the world, it’s a wonder they don’t burst with joy. The bond between a grandfather and grandson can be a very special one. My father had a wonderful relationship with his grandfather, and he spoke of him frequently with great affection. Back in the day, they all lived in the same house; three generations and not only coexisted but thrived. This is a story of a little boy and his grandfather and their very special bond.
Don't get me started on my relationship with my granddaughter. We don't have that kind of time. : {)

Grandpa was the greatest man that I have ever known.
…could ride faster than a cowboy… dined with Kings upon their throne.
The stories he would tell me… all his wisdom put in rhyme…
I’d be mesmerized for hours as we would stash away the time.
The minute school was over, it was to his house I’d run.
There, I would crawl into his lap until Grandma’d send me home.
My Grandpa could do magic, at least that’s what he would say.
Put a magic penny in my pocket, but I must’ve lost it on the way…
‘Cause one day my Grandpa told me that he’d been called away.
He’d been assigned a secret mission, and that I would have to stay.
He told me I was ready to "go it" on my own.
He asked me to watch o’er Grandma… so that she’d never be alone.

But he left such magic memories that he’ll always be around.
My Grandpa was my hero. I wish he were here today,
but Heaven needs its heroes, too, so I guess God took him away.
I do believe in heroes… and I believe in God above…
And I heard every word that Grandpa said, so I believe in love!
