From the recording Phaedron 12
I was drifting between sleep and dreams when this idea came to me. My mind rarely shuts down completely and I frequently ponder the immeasurable size of the universe. Weird, huh? I try to stay on the path relevant to humanity. I attempt, in my simple way, to grasp the overwhelming scope of the tools that have been lent to us in this life. I try to get closer to God to comprehend His purpose for all He has done. As a simple human existing within the framework and limitations of this life, my rules for logic and assessment can, at best, be contained in a rudimentary comic book compared to the countless libraries of massive volumes that make up the instruction manual for all that exists… both seen and unseen. Still, I try to place myself as far up my ladder of understanding as my mind will climb, and by doing so, mentally, in an environment outside of my world’s boundaries, it allows me to climb a bit higher… if only in my mind. John Fogarty said it well in "Sweet Hitchhiker" when he observed after a fleeting moment of self-deception, "... what you burn in your crazy mind!" Granted, my thoughts may lead me to a place that is not even on the ladder, but I will never find out unless God so chooses, at some point, to let me in on more of His secrets by blessing me with additional wisdom.
This song resulted from what might have been a fall from that ladder. I had taken my mind as far as I wanted to go that night and decided to pull over to a "space station" somewhere in the far reaches of my thoughts. I was searching the path I had taken for a comfy hammock to stretch out in, praying that the space station and this tranquil place were the same. The population on Earth had reached critical mass. War amongst nations could no longer be blamed on political or religious differences. Nations were now struggling for survival and control over the rapidly dwindling supply of edible food and potable water. Governmental and private companies were launching explorers to remote edges of the Universe in a desperate quest to discover a haven for mankind to start over. Mankind had reached the eleventh hour.
"This is your captain speaking… at this time I will ask you to strap in and slide your seats to maximum reclined positions, close your eyes, and be at peace. We have programmed our course for station "Phaedron 12" and are due to arrive yesterday. Use this time wisely and spend some time with your Maker."

None. This is YOUR flight.
